The Villages We Still Have

Where We Care, We Share

Share a Story

What has your community taught you about caring for one another?

Think of a moment someone made you feel welcome, a tradition that brings people together, neighbors who showed up when someone needed help, or something your community used to do that you wish would return.

We're gathering stories from around the world to discover how everyday acts of kindness, generosity, and cooperation can grow into stronger communities.

With your permission, your story can travel beyond your neighborhood through our Interactive Atlas of Belonging, inspiring others to recognize what works, share what they've learned, and bring meaningful ideas back to their own communities.

You don't need an extraordinary story. Sometimes the smallest gestures teach us the most.

No account needed.

1. What would you like to share?
2. Tell us what happened

Write or speak naturally, in any language. If you're not sure where to begin, you might think about:

  • What happened?
  • What made this experience meaningful?
  • What could someone in another community learn from it?

These are only prompts — answer any, all, or none. Your words matter more than perfect writing. Our optional writing assistant can help you tell your story without changing what happened.

Please leave out names — including of people you're thanking — and anything that could identify someone, like addresses or phone numbers. "A neighbor" or "my teacher" works perfectly.
